Town Hall Huddersfield
The Huddersfield Choral Society
6.30pm - As guests of the President, Mrs Brenda Mosley, David and I attended a lovely drinks reception where we were introduced to many people.
At 7.30pm The Huddersfield Choral Society performed The Messiah.
Both David and I felt it was a great privilege to be present at this magnificent gathering. As guests of the President we sat in the large box facing the stage.
At the Reception we met the very charming Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, The Mayor and Mayoress of Huddersfield, the High Sheriff and his wife, Jeremy and Martine Burton, as well as Roger Bowers (last year's High Sheriff) and his wife Lynda - . I had met both High Sheriffs at a meeting at Paddy Dents (Chairman of the High Sheriff's Association of England and Wales), some time ago.
The singing was truly wonderful and many members of the Society themselves said that it had been a special evening. The voices were magnificent.
Afterwards, we enjoyed an excellent buffet supper where again we were delighted to meet some of the people who have been to St Martin's Church, Windermere over the years. I spoke to Joseph Cullen and was delighted to learn that the Huddersfield Choral Society would all be pleased to come to St Martins again some time in the future.
