VISIT TO JAMES CROPPER PLC - PAPER MILL AT BURNESIDE
Kindly arranged by Mr James Cropper

Nineteen guests from various parts of the County met at the Mill Office for a guided tour of the Paper Mill, given by four excellent guides - Kim Gilbert (Export Manager), Geoff Simpson (Development Manager), David Freton (Health and Safety Instructor) and Steve Oxley (Paper making Operations Manager).

After a short introductory talk given by Alun Lewis, the Chief Executive, we were divided into three parties of 5 and 1 of 4 and the tour took approximately 2 and a half hours. We were made very aware of the health and safety regulations.

It is a fascinating process seeing pulp being dyed and dried and then turned into enormous rolls of paper which is exported all over the world as well as the UK.

James Cropper Plc are specialist paper manufacturers of low volume, high qualify uncoated and deep coloured papers. They are paper manufactueres of distinction with all the knowledge, skills and craftmanship gained in over 160 years of paper manufacturing and the paper supplies industry. As Europe's most modern coloured and specialist paper mill, James Cropper are paper suppliers in custom colours, weights or specifications, to any global destination. They also manufacture paper for Remembrance Day Poppoes.

When we returned to the Meeting Room we were welcomed by Mr Cropper and given refreshments and a short talk about the history of the Mill and how it came into the ownership of the Cropper family.
