THE REMEMBRANCE PARADE

We were greeted by Martin Farquhar, the Prison Governor. He felt that those who had lost their lives in the wars should be remembered and so he instigated this service, which he intends to make an annual event. There were many visitors including the Bishop of Carlisle, Cllr Wormstrup and Mrs Lee Hodgson, the Mayor of Barrow Mrs Dorothy Dawes, Chief Constable and Mrs Mackey, and members of various organisations.

The service was taken by Reverend Martin Jones and was very moving indeed.

After the placing of wreaths and a two minute silence the Bugler sounded 'Reveilli' to end the silence and Martin read the Kohima Epitaph and incredible poem Dulceret Decorum Est and then concluded with a prayer and blessing.

Afterwards we enjoyed a buffet lunch.
